Safety Precautions for Operating Aerial Work Vehicles

  1. Preparation Before Operation:
    • (1) Follow the vehicle’s manual for pre-driving preparations. When using a new vehicle, during the first 1,000 km of the running-in period, choose good road conditions, and ensure the driving speed doesn’t exceed the specified limits.
    • (2) Lubricate all points according to lubrication requirements.
    • (3) Check all fastening bolts to ensure they are not loose.
    • (4) Check the hydraulic oil tank level. If it’s below the minimum, open the oil tank valve.
    • (5) Inspect the work area where the vehicle will be supported. If necessary, place wooden blocks under the support legs to ensure stability.
  2. Operation Procedure:
    • (1) Engage the parking brake, set the gear lever to neutral, let the engine idle, press the clutch, pull the hand throttle lever (located on the left side of the cabin), and engage the power take-off (PTO). Observe the pump for any abnormal noises, vibrations, or leaks. In cold weather, let it idle for at least 10 minutes.
    • (2) According to the labels on the lower control panel, move the lever to extend the rear support legs (horizontal stabilizers). Once the rear legs are stable, lower all four support legs. Make sure the vehicle is stable by adjusting the legs until all are level.
    • (3) After adjusting the legs, move the selector valve (V1) to supply oil to the upper control valves. This allows oil from the pump to reach the upper controls through the P and O ports.
    • (4) Move the upper control valve to the “Lower Arm” or “Upper Arm” position to raise the boom. Moving the lever to “Retract” will lower the boom. The “Rotate” lever can be used to swing the boom left or right.
    • (5) For operations from the aerial basket, follow the same steps as in (3). Ensure the V2 valve is set to allow control from the basket.
    • (6) After completing the work, return all components to their original positions. Use the lower control valve to retract the vertical legs first, then the horizontal stabilizers.
    • (7) Disengage the PTO, stop the pump, release the parking brake, and the vehicle is ready for transport.
  3. Important Safety Considerations:
    • (1) Do not engage the hydraulic pump while driving.
    • (2) Never operate the vehicle without extending the support legs.
    • (3) The work site slope should not exceed 3 degrees.
    • (4) Do not adjust the support legs while the aerial platform is in use, especially when it’s carrying personnel.
    • (5) Stop operations if wind speeds exceed level 5.
    • (6) All workers in the aerial platform must wear safety harnesses.
    • (7) Keep the engine idling during aerial operations, and the operator should remain at the control station at all times.
    • (8) Avoid working near high-voltage electrical wires.
    • (9) No one should stand underneath the boom during operations.

These precautions ensure the safety of personnel and the efficient operation of the aerial work vehicle.
