Common sense for the daily use of oil tankers

Safe use of oil tankers: Fire prevention tips

(1) Do not pour gasoline into the carburetor when the engine is running or the vehicle is turning. Adding gasoline to the carburetor to increase the concentration of the mixture in the cylinder, although this is beneficial for starting when a fuel failure occurs, it is of no avail for faults caused by other reasons. Moreover, doing so may also cause backfire, burning personnel and vehicles and other hazards.

(2) When maintaining a gasoline filter, it is not recommended to burn the filter element with gasoline. When maintaining gasoline filters, many people like to use the method of burning ceramic filter elements with gasoline to remove impurities on the filter elements. The harm of doing so is that it is prone to fire and at the same time has an impact on the service life of the filter element.

(3) In the oil depot, it is strictly prohibited to check the battery’s charge status by short-circuiting and sparking. Because in small oil depots with poor ventilation, there are often tires, batteries, tarpaulins and other equipment placed, and gasoline spills on the ground, the sparks produced when sparking are very likely to ignite the oil molecules in the air.

(4) The tow chain of the oil tanker must not be wound around the frame. Like other substances, oil can also generate static electricity when rubbed against another object. This kind of static electricity spark may ignite the fuel and cause a fire. Therefore, a grounded ground wire should be installed on the oil depot, and a grounded iron chain should also be installed on the oil tanker to prevent the generation of static sparks inside the oil tank. This iron chain cannot be randomly wound around the frame of the main beam; it must be placed on the ground and the drag section should be no less than 50 centimeters.

(5) It is strictly prohibited to refuel oil tankers under high-voltage power lines.

(6) The method of hanging fire must not be frequently used. Sometimes, there may be carbon deposits on the spark plugs of a car. When the carbon deposits in a certain cylinder are severe, the cylinder cannot operate normally. To ensure the normal operation of the cylinder, the method of “lifting the spark” outside the cylinder (leaving a gap of 3 to 4 millimeters between the spark plug and the high-voltage wire) is adopted to increase the energy of the spark plug electrode tripping and restore the operation of the cylinder. However, the general “lifting the spark” method is prone to detachment if not handled carefully. If there are dripping gasoline on the cylinder block, a fire is extremely likely to occur. Therefore, it is only a temporary remedial measure. The correct approach should be to clean and maintain the spark plugs in a timely manner and try to avoid using the “hanging flame” method.

(7) There must be no dripping or leakage in the vehicle’s fuel system. If there is leakage in the fuel line of the chassis and the ignition is delayed or the mixture is thin, due to the slow combustion, the exhaust pipe will catch fire, and the temperature of the vehicle body will rise, exceeding the flash point of gasoline vapor by more than ten times (the flash point of gasoline vapor is 28℃). Igniting the leaked oil can easily cause a fire hazard and lead to the scrapping of the vehicle body. If the carburetor drips onto the cylinder head, the high-voltage spark from the spark plug may also cause a fire.

Preparations before using oil tankers

Insert the conductive rod into the ground to “ground” it. If the grounding site is dry, water it to make it moist to ensure good grounding. Check the ground chain to make it come into contact with the ground.

2. Open the control box door of the oil tanker and check the handles of all valves to ensure they are in the closed position (vertical position).

3. When using the oil pump for the first time, if there is no priming oil in the pump, it should be filled with oil in advance. You can add 10 liters of oil through the oil inlet.

4. Check the oil level of the lubricating oil in the transmission until it reaches the lower edge of the oil level plug hole. If it is insufficient, add gear oil.

5. Check the transmission control lever to ensure it is in neutral position, check the position of the power take-off box control handle to ensure it is horizontally to the right, and check the throttle controller to ensure it is at the minimum.
